Fighting weight loss has been a problem in my life for pretty much all of my life. I can remember always fighting the battle during middle school especially and through high school and college. All of my friends were average size and even small. I just never understood why I couldn't be like that.
My family gathers around the dinner table..... whether it be someone's birthday, family dinner, church lunches, parties, etc. it seemed to be always centered around food. Even in college when I moved away from home these traditions continued and stayed the same when I returned home for my job.
In 2009, after graduating from Winthrop I had become more active because of some of my time at Winthrop, but never fully stayed with any program. Not many people around me at school needed to be working out regularly in order to stay thin so it was hard to stay motivated that way.
After I graduated, I moved home and got a teaching job at home. Living at home with my parents was nice, I always had food to eat and someone to watch out for me. Around Christmas time of that year I started to become friends with an Ingles worker- Timmy Towe who motivated me to work hard to lose some weight. He made some simple "rules" for me that I always kept in my wallet. I wrote down everything I ate and turned it in to him and he even would go with me the the Y. I was devoted, and determined to get the weight off. I worked extremely hard for about 5 months. The end of the school year came, things go a little crazy and I had managed to lose about 40-50 pounds and maintained that weight through many ups and downs. However, within the past year or so I could feel myself slipping back into bad habits- drinking sodas, fast food, junk food, candy, etc.
I've been going to Zumba for about 2 years now. Leann has done wonders for me! She keeps me motivated and lets me vent when I need it. I used a few diet plans from her througout this time of weight loss struggle. However, what I found is that I never stuck with much or didn't have any motivation to do so. Or, I wouldn't see any results so I would just quit. She started seeing Aaron Cullip, of Advanced Body Design and was seeing some great results. After thinking about it for a while I knew this was something that I had to get involved in.
This blog tells of my journey of weight loss. Although just getting started I know the journey will be well worth it and I can't wait!
